A Complete Design-to-Analysis Solution
ALGOR and SpaceClaim offer a complete design-to-analysis solution that makes computer-aided engineering (CAE) workflow smooth and efficient. With it, engineers can import virtually any solid model geometry and create a neutral file format for input to ALGOR.
For the first time, you can control the CAE workflow regardless of the native CAD environment. Prepare models for analysis and edit geometry to optimize designs in your environment and in your own timeframe. This means fewer iterations, reduced project costs, and better-performing designs. When you’re done, you communicate the recommended and verified design changes back to the design team.
Removing Barriers from Design to Analysis
Have you experienced interoperability problems or struggled with CAD files?
The SpaceClaim powerful import and export capabilities open all major native CAD and neutral file formats.
Have constraints and regeneration failures prevented you from simplifying and preparing models prior to mesh and analysis?
With its streamlined user interface, and powerful editing and de-featuring tools, SpaceClaim lets you do the job regardless of the file format and without regeneration failures.
Have you ever needed to quickly identify and fix part gaps and interferences?
SpaceClaim’s quick interference-checking tools and part and assembly cross-section modification make finding and fixing models so easy you can do it with just a few mouse clicks.
SpaceClaim and ALGOR have full associativity, so you can transfer models and update mesh and boundary conditions automatically, reducing the time needed for analysis iterations.
Capabilities
Setting up a model for analysis in ALGOR takes only three simple steps:
-
Meshing the model
-
Applying materials from the extensive material library
-
Setting up the different loads and constraints
With ALGOR DesignCheck finite element analysis (FEA) software, you can verify multi-part, multi-material, 3D SpaceClaim models with detailed stress analysis. If you need to change the design based on the analysis results, you simply go back to SpaceClaim, make the change, and resend the revised model back to ALGOR. Virtually testing the behavior of product designs speeds up time to market and lets you make better, safer products at a lower cost.
The SpaceClaim and ALGOR Workflow
With SpaceClaim and Algor, the workflow is straightforward.
1. Start by importing the model.
2. Use SpaceClaim to clean the model, removing or de-featuring components of the design for analysis.
3. With the click of a button, use full associativity to bring the model into ALGOR and perform the necessary analysis.
4. When the analysis is complete, use the results to make necessary design changes and re-turn the verified analysis to design. You can go through this process as many times as needed.
5. Finally, communicate the final updates and submit design comparisons to the CAD designer for final logging.
When you’re done, move on to the next project. Time saved: 75%.
Benefits
As SpaceClaim’s full associative integration with ALGOR preserves all mesh, materials, loads and constraints, just re-run the analysis and obtain new results. For you this means:
• Freedom from design constraints (basically, SpaceClaim lets you easily defeature the model)
• More creative work environment
• More design iterations
• Faster completion and earlier project hand-off to the analysis team
• Avoid traditional CAD regeneration errors
About ALGOR
ALGOR’s design, analysis and simulation tools allow engineers to virtually test and predict the real-world behavior of new and existing product designs. These tests help engineers speed time to market and make better, safer products at less cost. ALGOR's simulation capabilities include static stress and Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) with linear and nonlinear material models, linear dynamics, fatigue, steady-state and transient heat transfer, steady and unsteady fluid flow, electrostatics, full multiphysics and piping.
